Liberland delegation met with Croatian members of parliament, policymakers and NGOs
A Liberland delegation led by DJStern recently met with Croatian Members of Parliament, policymakers, and NGOs. The discussions focused on how we can work within the Croatian and European political systems to promote liberty, growth, and free zones like Liberland.
Liberland's previous approach was disorganized, producing no settlement, no diplomacy, and an anti-Liberland onion: layer upon layer of policies, legal decisions, and procedures designed to stop us. We now have a clear idea of how to prevent new layers from forming and even begin peeling existing ones off, starting with the 2024 restrictions on boat traffic and vehicle access.
The photo is from our meeting with Zvonimir Troskot, a member of Croatian parliament from MOST, the first Croatian party to take AI policy seriously. Our delegation included people from the Croatian AI community, so the conversation turned to AI, and Troskot invited us to contribute to the party's AI declaration. We showed up with something useful, found common ground, and a door to productive cooperation opened.
We now have a template we can take all the way. The road is long, but it has a real chance of ending in a thriving city and recognition of Liberland. The strategy you voted for when electing me to Congress has worked so far. After 11 years of being treated as an unknown and threatening entity, this year we built up the Croatian-Liberland community and gained workable access to Croatian politicians, policymakers, and NGOs, so we can work within the system instead of bashing our heads against the wall.
The big caveat: the bulk of the work will fall to the Croatian-Liberland community, alongside the sister efforts of the Serbian-Liberland community. Our next steps are to grow the Croatian-Liberland community, especially among the NGOs, experts, and parties the Croatian government relies on when Liberland-related policies come up, while working in parallel to remove the practical restrictions on boat and vehicle access.
